"Will Immigration reform help or hurt the US economy?"
Original Opinion by ekoc (21)
With new laws such as the Immigration bill passed in Arizona, will it help or hurt our economy keeping these illegal immigrants out?
One side says, keep them, they allow cheap good work and take jobs people don't want, but the other says make them leave and have them do it the correct way.

From an economic standpoint, illegal aliens hurt out country in so many ways.
Yes, they help with keeping prices low, however the way they are doing it is not American at all. They have broken our laws and aren't paying taxes. Without paying taxes, it prevents the government from buying goods (as they don't have the money) and prevents an American worker from a job. When Americans don't have jobs, they don't have any money to spend. Without companies bringing in money, it causes a whole chain reaction of more and more people unable to spend money and enables a bad economy.
With unemployment at almost 10%, I am sure there are many people out there who are looking for a a job and would take anything that was offered to them if they could find work.
Keep them out, let them do it the correct way and make them pay their taxes like the rest of us.

Immigrants are somewhat relieved that they don't pay taxes, because there is really no way of tracking them down (even though they are everywhere) and make them pay taxes because they get paid in cash and do not have a SSN. Most do pay taxes, those who think that one day they can become legal residents.
Arizona immigrants will go to other states to live. And Arizona will have an economic problem. No one will be there to buy goods.
If they are granted a green card, they have to pay taxes, there is no escape.
There will always be people who are willing to work for cheap or for minimum wage because they don't have an education.
There are U.S Citizens who have the dirty jobs, because some dirty jobs do require a work permit.

there is actually a campaign going on right now at takeoutjobs.org where illegals are offering their farm labor jobs to any citizens who want them. so far I believe less then 10 have taken up the offer. No Citizen wants to work in the fields for long hours at minimum wage.
