"Why do we use "Allah" instead of "God" when talking about Islam?"

Original Opinion by Gaelin (136)

Allah is the Arabic word for God. It has the same meaning as "God". Why do we then reference Muslims as believing in Allah, they believe in the same Abrahamic God as Christians and Jews.

Allah is the name they call their God... Because they call their God "Allah", out of respect, we call their God by the name they call it.

"Jèsus" by Gaelin (136)

would you refer to Spanish speakers as believing In Jèsus Christo or Jesus Christ? it's the same thing, merely a translation.

The Islam religion, if that is what you want to call something:

that follows Sharia Law
that makes women property
that men can kill women for any reason
that does not allow women to go to school
that makes women cover themselves completely
that women can't wear jewelry or make up
that women can't vote
that men have all control over everything
that men kill homosexuals
that men kill anyone not of their faith, such as us, American

"Do you forget the bible?" by Gaelin (136)

The bible literally has a verse saying that if your own brother tries to tempt you to follow another religion your hand must be the first raised to kill him. Christianity is just as bad, we're just not at the medieval level anymore. Back in the medieval age Islam was by far the more tolerant of the two. Muslims are Christians less secular cousins.

allah is the same god just a diffrent name the muslim religion is actualy just a off shoot of judaism in almost the exact way christainty is muhhamed in this case would be thier jesus only hes not the son of god and any way it doesnt realy mater what you call god since in the torrah or the old testament it calls god yaway cant be certain im spelling that right

and the reason we usualy relate the muslim faith with violence is because the leaders of the arab world still use religion to munipulate there people to acomplish politacal goals the same way catholic spain used it during the inqusistion to remove muslims the peacefull group in this case from today southern spain as well as jews that the muslim government lived in peace with

When I read your response I was a bit outraged and thought to myself why don't people educate themselves before talking. The I realized that as a Muslim it's actually my job to set straight any misconceptions.

For starters, I'd like to tell you that the right to vote was given to women 1400 years before in Islam before it was even considered in the western world. Women are not property. Education is a must to all people, no matter what trade you are in. Don't buy in to the lie you hear on the news and the internet. Sharia actually translates to Islamic law, it's a set of laws that govern the ideal life a person, it comes directly from the Qu'ran. If you think it's not a good book, please pick it up and read one (the translated ones of course). killing anyone is a sin, and no reason can justify it. And yes homosexuality is looked down on just like the other two major religions of the world. Being a Muslim (and an American) doesn't make me hate other cultures, it makes me appreciate the diversity of the world.

The matter of the names is that, believe it or not, it is the same god, but different languages. Yaway is in Hebrew. Christ is pronounced in different ways in many different languages. Allah is Arabic, so please respect the language.

Today's Arab countries disregard what is in the Qu'ran and follow their own agenda. what they do is not what Islam is really about.

Thank you for giving your touch to this argument, i couldn't have put this better myself. I'm glad that we have a Muslim here now to counter the MANY ignorants who don't know anything but prejudices about it. Islam preserved science, and Islam created highly advanced centralized states at a time when Europeans were killing each other over cattle. May the tolerance and peace of Cordoba's height be known again in this world!
