Why would the Government do that?!

He didn't us any respect when he killed thousands of Americans, why must we show respect to him?

The United States should have shown the world what happens to criminals that kill innocent Americans.

We wanted this conflict done, and we wanted to avoid a backlash that could cost more Americans their lives. though I still suspect that the naval burial consisted of the SEALS chopping Osama's dick off and tossing him of the side.

For one, Bin Ladin had set him up as a religious figure. If the government simply buried him in the sand or dirt, the people who believed in what he was saying would have dug him back up. It was the government's way of showing that this was not a war against the Muslim religion because they showed proper rites. They may have not on the other side but does that mean we have to stoop down to their level? If they had gotten a hold of Osama Bin Ladin's body there would have been "holy relics" going around. He gained power by saying he was being spoken to by his god. How else could he have promised the people who blew themselves up that they would find themselves in the world of milk and honey? It was both a diplomatic solution along with an intelligent one.
