"Who deserves credit for killing Osama Bin Laden? Obama or Bush?"

Original Opinion by ekoc (25)

With Osama Bin Laden dead, which president deserves the credit?

President Obama was the president and gave the order to Kill Osama Bin Laden, yet President Bush was the president who made it his mission for almost his entire presidency to catch Bin Laden. Both presidents should be proud for catching this criminal, however, which one deserves the credit?

Pretty simple, both deserve credit.

President Obama deserves credit for standing up and not backing down when his intelligence knew of a possible lead of where Bin Laden was.

President Bush helped towards this and kept the war going on so the United States could be safe. He is what scared Bin Laden and ultimately without Bush, there would be no hunt for the terrorist leader.

Great job President Bush and President Obama!

look, Bush spent seven years trying to get Osama, and failed. Obama spent three years, and succeeded. I think we should recognize that. also Osama was not hiding out in fear, he was living luxuriously in a mansion. The whole F***ing time.

To be sure the real heroes are the members of the take down force. That being said, they were following orders from President Obama. It was his order so it should be his credit alone. I distinctly remember President Bush making WMDs in Iraq and the easy target of Saddam Hussein his priority. While, straight out the gate, President Obama drew down Iraq and prioritized Afghanistan and the capture/killing of Osama bin Laden, much to the chagrin of Republicans and Democrats respectively.

Due to the continuity of government from one administration to the next, President Bush deserves some credit because of his “War on Terror” apparatus and far more credit for our current economic environment.

It’s a shame that President Obama can't get credit where it’s due with out the caveats. Republicans can't have it both ways. President Bush has no culpability in the Great Recession, but he should get a lion’s share of credit for events that happened more two years after he left office. It seems more than a little hypocritical.

Like Ranger1 said, the people who deserve the credit for killing Osama were the Navy SEALs that were actually in combat there.

However, since Obama is our Commander in Chief, and was the one to ultimately make the final decision, he is given the credit. Bush didn't have anything to do with the assassination of bin Laden.
