"Should the Dream Act Bill be a law?"

Original Opinion by OkComputer (12)

The Dream Act Bill was brilliantly written. Though, it seems somewhat unfair to have to wait six years. The Dream Act is a better idea than a Reform; students; honest and hardworking people will only be allowed in our country.

I understand the writers of this law have good intentions, but it would unfair to give illegal immigrants a priority over legal Americans in scholarship funding, even if they were born here illegally and did not come on their own accord. Pay for the college education of legal Americans first, then focus on the illegal immigrants.

Illegals will not receive a dime for school; it is clearly stated in the Bill. Scholarships are avaible whether or not they have documents.

I just read the bill and I see I was wrong. I remember hearing something about the Dream Act giving scholarships to illegal immigrants who did well in high school.

I would support the bill as long as all the present eligible immigrants were granted amnesty, but no future illegals were guaranteed amnesty. This would create an incentive for Mexican families (or families of any other race for that matter) to come here illegally.

If a family wishes to make more for themselves why should they not be granted the chance? It seems this could be a work around for the sticky issue of immigration reform. Seeing as there is very little momentum in that direction. This wouldn't be so much of an incentive as a removal of a deterrent.

I agree. Lucky for those who will qualify, which not many will.
