"Should America be considered a "defender of freedom"?"
Original Opinion by Gaelin (136)
One of the most common statement i hear from heavily patriotic Americans is that "America spreads liberty to the world!"
But is that really the case? On august 19th, 1953, the C.I.A. executed a plot to remove the popular leader, Mohammed Mosaddegh, from power in Iran due to his radical view that Iran's natural resources should benefit Iranians. In his stead the Shah eventually gained power, which he maintained through the use of a secret police force, which he payed for with American funding. In 1954 the C.I.A. overthrew the democratically elected leader of Guatemala. the resulting power vacuum saw a series of military rulers who waged counter revolutionary warfare, greatly destabilizing society. in the end, more than 14,000 guatemalans were killed in the violence that was a direct result of the CIA overthrow. these are not isolated incidents. these are the first, but they continue all the way to the present day. Clearly America has lost the Mandate of Liberty.

Over the last century we took on red scare during the cold war were we felt that anything we did was justified and Iran is a great example when the group we supported was in Power Henry Kissinger sed nuclear power would be great for Iran in boosting exports of oil after the revolution he changed to nuclear power would be useless for a country with such oil reserves that probably why a lot of countries don't like us is we live in a world of double think were are allies of today are the enemies of tomorrow example pak you can guess
