"Has the popularity of the U.S. in other nations increased since Obama took office?"

Original Opinion by JamesBufkin (25)

Well the evidence suggests, yes it has. The U.S. overall has much higher ratings than when Bush was President.

This may not seem like such an important subject, but consider this. When America is more popular we have better relations with foreign nations and therefore legislation and operations with these countries becomes easier. This helps the country as a whole politically and economically (because we become better trading partners too).

Ever since we started the wars in the Middle East our popularity has suffered here in the U.S. But because of leadership change to Mr. Obama, our ratings have soared. By polling thousands of citizens all over the world researchers have gained a rather valuable insight and revealed this new trend.

This may seem like a position of an Obama-lover, but I merely like Obama. And before it is said, I do not nor did I ever hate Bush, in fact I used to support him and even felt sorry that he had such a rough time while trying to do his job. From the quick Google search I did I was able to find many sources that stated the facts I have summarized here. If there are any disagreements then I.d like to see the evidence.

I'd also like to know the opinions of American's toward America as a whole, if we're doing better now than we were a few years back. My opinion is that we are, besides the recession of course, doing better. What are your opinions?

Think about it, we are spending more than we are taking in and already have a huge debt! How do we pay for the new spending and the debt? Tax the hard working rich folks.

He may be popular in the world, but until he does something (besides apologizing for our the United States) other countries will start blaming us for the problems in their own country. He is new and inexperienced, once a major decision comes past his desk, just watch his high approval in the world lower.

Honestly, Clinton was a better president than he is, and that's saying a lot.

So what? Asking Iran to be nice isn't going to make it better.

"US is weaker" by ronc994 (13)

I submit the US has dropped a few points in the respect catagory. Yes, the left wing part of the world loves us now, so what? They only hate the US when there is a right wing leader.

The world is a dangerous place, getting more and more dangerous by the day.

Fanatics are ruling in many countries, and these are the ones that we need to be concerned about. Not the French, or the Germans, Russians, or Swedes.

After many lives were lost at Normandy, what did the French do? They ignored the fact they were liberated by the US, Britain, Canada and many allies. They shunned us in Paris, and gave absolutely no credit to us. These left wing countries are not good friends, they are not good allies, and frankly, who cares what they think.

But the people who have always hated the West still hate the West, nothing will change that.

Why worry about what "the outside world" thinks ?

Just be true to ourselves, and we will continue to be that same outside world's destination of choice.

He's apologized to our enemies (although he has pissed off our allies.) He has also bowed to the king of Saudi Arabia and the Emperor of Japan (in case you didn't know, that's a no no. The President doesn't bow to another foreign leader, it's a sign of submission) of course he'll make other countries happy. But take care of America before making friends with foreign leaders.

France has dozens of memorials to Americans who died liberating the country, the French people to this day continue to see America as the land of opportunity. the only reason we have any diplomatic problems with mostly socialist Europe is because of us, not them.
