"Does Glen Beck have any connection to reality?"

Original Opinion by Gaelin (136)

the other day I was watching glen beck for laughs and he claimed that the democratic revolutions in the middle east are going to lead to a new Islamic Caliphate across the Muslim world and as a result lead to World War III. I heard even Bill O'Reilley said that was ridiculous.

I don't think anyone who is radically partisan can be deemed sane.

"that depends." by Gaelin (136)

If you say we need universal health care you may be called a radical, even if as evidence you point out that nations with universal healthcare spend less money than us an get better health care. You are still sane. If you claim the immenant creation of a pan-mediteranian Muslim caliphate and an impending world war based on fearmongering and conjecture than you are insane.

Yes, you are right, believing in [everything you said in your last sentence] is at a higher degree of insanity than advocating universal health care. That doesn't mean that the less insane person is sane.

By the way I don't think advocating universal healthcare is insane, or radically partisan. In terms of left-wing ideologies, I would deem radical ideas such as state communism or perhaps certain variations of anarchism. I don't think universal healthcare is such a radical idea.

Either way when I said anyone who is radically partisan is insane, I don't mean anyone with radical views is necessarily insane. I mean anyone who has a psychological addiction that makes them feel like they HAVE to align all of their views, on every issue, with the same ideology, is insane. These people usually have problems with their personal self-identification and they try to use politics as an outlet to find it.

The whole idea of partisanship is just insane, why should your views on the economy have anything to do with your view on gay marriage or abortion? thats why I always try to approach each new issue fresh, not based on what matches up with party lines. I am in complete agreement with you on that. and I appreciate you not considering universal healthcare radical, I think alot of people just write off socialism as the same as communism when socialist parties are a lot less radical than most would think.

"Definitely" by FreeRoamer (42)

I agree, and I also don't understand why the same people who preach about "smaller government" are usually the same ones wanting to do away with separation of church and state, keep the DEA and continue the War on Drugs, wage wars in other countries, etc. Not a rant on any particular ideology, but it just DOESN'T MAKE SENSE. The only explanation is that one person came up with this bizarre idea, and a million others followed suit. Hence partisanship
